PODIUM AND POSITIVE PROGRESS FOR PMR AT DONINGTON PARK

DAN LLOYD STOOD ON A BTCC PODIUM ONCE AGAIN AS THE PMR MAN REINFORCED HIS CREDENTIALS ON THE HOTLY CONTESTED SERIES

It was a rare weekend off for the majority of our ambassadors as only the RICH Energy-backed Adrian Flux with Power Maxed Racing were in action. Just a week after RICH Energy OMG Racing’s Kyle Ryde stood on the podium for the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship race at Donington Park, PMR matched their 2-wheeled counterparts as Daniel Lloyd took second place in the opening Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship race at the same circuit over the weekend. After a difficult last few rounds, the PMR team were rewarded for their hard work as Lloyd drove superbly to stand on the podium and take the applause of the team.

The weekend started well for the PMR duo of Dan Lloyd and Jason Plato as they returned their best qualifying session of the year on Saturday to start second and third on the grid ahead of Sunday’s opening race at the penultimate round of the championship. The team took eighth and tenth to qualify for the top ten showdown but then really hit form in the final qualifying session for the all-important grid positions.

Sunday’s opening race was a story of two sides as Dan Lloyd hold firm in second place for the duration of the race as teammate, Plato fell back in the opening skirmishes but recovered to a positive sixth at the chequered flag. For race two it was the return of the BTCC success ballast for Lloyd as 66kgs were added to his Vauxhall Astra, however, the form Lloyd is currently showing meant that he could still haul his PMR Astra home in fifth position! Again, for Plato it was a different story as the BTCC legend was pushed wide on lap one as the pack streamed through, eventually finishing in a disappointing eighteenth place.

For the final race of the weekend, a reverse grid draw saw Lloyd pull a seventh place start but a five-second penalty for an out of position start saw him drive the race of the weekend to take seventh at the flag as Plato finished fifteenth to round off a difficult weekend for the multiple BTCC champion. The team now move on to Brands Hatch in just under two weeks-time as once again the series follows BSB, who end their season this weekend at the same venue.
