EXPERIENCED PODCAST HOST, DAVE NEAL, BRINGS YOU INTERVIEWS AND CHAT FROM THE WORLD OF MOTORCYCLE RACING AND MOTORSPORT IN GENERAL. FROM THE LEGEND THAT IS FREDDIE SPENCER TO EXPERIENCED CREW CHIEF MARK WOODAGE AND MOTOGP PIT LANE REPORTER SIMON CRAFAR TO FORMER BTCC DRIVER MICHAEL CREES, WE HAVE THE BEST OF THE SPORT FOR YOU EVERY WEEK.
Podcasts aren't particularly new, they're just becoming more and more popular courtesy of the way of life over the past 15 months. It's an escape for the listener, a way to shut out the world and slip into a conversation that's informative and entertaining (hopefully). Motorcycle racing is a niche sport, of that there's no doubt, however, the fans within it are knowledgeable and like to take on more knowledge and if that's done with a smile then even better. Other really good motorcycle racing podcasts are available but this is ours and we're proud of it.
We started our first season with an introduction to James Ellison, our rider coach. He has a successful career to look back on and we delve in to that up to the point that he joined SMR and his relationship with Mick Shanley began. That further episode with Mick will be arranged soon, it's a matter of tying both down at the same time! We covered our riders at the time, Luke Mossey, James Hillier and Billy McConnell and also our RICH Energy ambassadors, BTCC Michael Crees and Honda World Superbike rider, Alvaro Bautista along with Richard Cooper. As the rider line-up changed for 2021, both Kyle Ryde and Brad Ray gave us an insight in their careers to date and their hopes for the future in the RICH Energy OMG Racing colours.
Season 2 saw us kick the show up another gear as we introduced guests from outside out RICH Energy stable with appearances by Aspar CEV and Red Bull Rookie, Scott Ogden, Eurosport commentator Greg Haines and onwards to Freddie Spencer, MotoGP commentator Keith Huewen and Simon Crafar, Dorna's intrepid pit lane explorer. We like to diversify, too - MotoGP Social Media kingpin, Matt Dunn lifted the lid on the delights of algorithms and just how social media works and MotoGP photographer, Rob Gray of Polarity Photo joined us to give a revealing insight into how much planning and preparation goes in to capturing images over a race weekend.
Cross-pollination in the podcast world is rare, however we made it happen when we hosted the dynamic Geordie duo of Chrissy Rouse and Dom Herbertson from Chasin' the Racin', one of the most successful motorcycle racing podcasts available. The boys discussed the origins of the show and how they came together as well as their careers on track to date - Dom was his usual effervescent self as Chrissy held firm and helped us keep the ship steady for 90 minutes.
Peter Hickman, who gave us a real insight in to the Isle of Man TT and Mark Woodage, Crew Chief to John McPhee in Moto3 and engine builder to many, including Hollywood stuntmen, were fascinating to listen to. Now the testing season is underway we have stories direct from the paddock; talented young riders such as Junior Supersport Champion, Owen Jenner, STK600 title challenger, Joe Talbot and STK1000 hot prospect Tim Neave all join us from the various testing locations as do Aprilia's Fraser Rogers, BSB rookie, Brad Jones and Daytona 200 winner and Dynavolt Triumph man, New Jersey's own Brandon Paasch.
There is plenty to come from Off Track, we were at Oliver's Mount recently so have a handful of chats from there as well as a couple of really special interviews that we're sure you'll enjoy. Search for Off Track at wherever you get your podcasts and enjoy the journey with us.
